Scholars’ Day 2019 Features Multiple Presentations

This year’s 8^th Annual Scholars’ Day presents an exciting opportunity for the entire Brookdale community to come together for a rewarding day of professional development and camaraderie. Scholars’ Day takes place on Friday, May 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Brookdale Arena.

Dr. Matthew Reed, vice president for learning, will kick off Scholars’ Day. Following the welcome, there will be four breakout sessions in MAS.

During the breakout sessions, Brookdale faculty, staff, and administration will deliver presentations on diverse topics ranging from “Extensive Close Encounters with the Chinese and European Praying Mantis” to “Canvas Learning Mastery Gradebook: An Overview” to “Social Anxiety and Course Completion Rates” to “Social Justice in a Politically Correct World” and many more. A total of 33 presentations are scheduled. Three poster exhibitions will be on display throughout the day.

After the breakout sessions, lunch will be served.

“Scholars’ Day is my favorite day of the year!  It’s that rare opportunity for everyone to come together, enjoy each other’s company and share our knowledge, talents and experiences with each other. There is something for everyone,” said Linda DeButts, program manager of professional development and one of the co-chairs of the event. “It truly is Brookdale at its best!”

All Brookdalians are invited to attend Scholars’ Day. All offices and locations will be closed so all employees can participate.
