Brookdale Community College’s Performing Arts Center is excited to announce Digging The Whole, a family-friendly play running on December 5, 6, 7, and 8 at 11:00 a.m., with additional performances on December 7 and 8 at 2:00 p.m. This unique production will take place in the Black Box Theater at the Performing Arts Center.
Written by Mark Schaeffer and featuring music and lyrics by Rita Z. Asch, Digging The Whole tells the tale of Slag Heap, a soda-loving, TV-watching character who builds a home deep in the woods. However, Slag Heap’s tranquil life is interrupted when he’s visited by Raccoon, Deer, Owl, and Oak Tree, who accuse him of crimes against nature, including littering and disturbing the peace. In this interactive play, these woodland creatures assume roles as judge, prosecutor, bailiff, and court clerk, while the audience is called to serve as the jury, ultimately deciding Slag Heap’s fate.
Recommended for children ages 4 to 10, this 50-minute show allows kids to engage fully by sitting on the floor around the stage, immersing themselves in the action. Tickets are priced at $10, plus fees, and are available for general admission. Tickets can be purchased here. Children under 2 attend free of charge.
