Brookdale Community College Board of Trustee Dyese Davis has been honored with the Trailblazer of NJ Award by Millennials for NJ, a political organization dedicated to electing millennial candidates in New Jersey. In addition to her role on the Brookdale Board, Davis serves as the Chief of Staff for the Office of Senator Vin Gopal and Assemblywomen Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul.
The award celebrates Davis’s commitment to leadership and her efforts in empowering millennials to step into public service. Davis reflected on the recognition, stating, “Thank you to Millennials for NJ for honoring me with the Trailblazer Award! The best way to blaze a trail is to get out of your own way. When that voice in your head says, ‘Why me?’ turn it into ‘Why not me?’ We all have something to give the world, so you might as well lean in and give it all you got. And while you’re at it, elect some millennials along the way!”
Millennials for NJ, a nonpartisan organization, tackles the underrepresentation of millennials in political office, despite being the largest adult population and labor force in the country. The group works to elect leaders who address key issues affecting millennials, such as housing affordability and retaining young talent in New Jersey.
The event, featuring keynote speaker Congressman Andy Kim, also honored fellow trailblazers Matthew Anderson and Juan Carlos Nordelo. Davis gave a special shout-out to her “Millennials fam” Rebecca Schwartz, Kaylee McGuire, and Matt Clarkin, MBA, for their support and efforts in pushing forward the organization’s mission.
As a Board member of Millennials for NJ, Davis continues to advocate for policies that will ensure the millennial voice is heard in New Jersey’s political landscape.
