Brookdale Esports continues to prove why it’s a powerhouse in collegiate gaming, with yet another National Championship title to celebrate. Paul “Synnister” Synn, a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate standout, claimed the NJCAAE 1v1 Fall ’24 National Championship, capping an undefeated 13-0 season with a resounding victory against Centralia College’s “Charlie D.” in the finals.
Paul’s journey was nothing short of spectacular. After dominating the regular season, he carried his momentum into the playoffs, clinching the East 4 Regional Championship before taking home the coveted National title. Under the mentorship of Head Coach Francis Gleeson, Paul exemplified dedication, skill, and sportsmanship, showcasing the best of Brookdale on a national stage.
“It’s an incredible achievement,” said Director Chris Boehmer. “Paul’s hard work and passion were evident throughout the season. Winning a National Championship is no easy feat, and I couldn’t be more proud of him, coach Gleeson and the entire Esports program.”
The victory adds another accolade to Brookdale Esports’ already impressive record and underscores the program’s commitment to excellence. Alongside Paul’s triumph, Brookdale’s other teams also had remarkable seasons:
- Valorant: The team secured the East 3 Regional Championship but exited Nationals in the first round after a tough match against St. Louis Community College.
- Call of Duty: After winning the East Regional Championship, the team battled hard in Nationals, finishing 3rd overall with a crucial win over Guilford Technical Community College.
- Overwatch 2: Claiming the East 2 Regional Championship, the team reached the semifinals of Nationals, ultimately finishing 4th following a close match against Columbia Basin College.
While Brookdale’s Rocket League, Street Fighter, and Madden teams didn’t advance to Nationals, they had strong seasons and contributed to the program’s growing legacy.
Paul’s victory is a testament to Brookdale Esports’ incredible talent and the support system driving its success. With Paul “Synnister” Synn leading the charge, Brookdale’s Esports program continues to inspire and pave the way for future champions.
Both our Smash team and Rocket League are number one in the Shore Conference for the Garden State Esports Collegiate Circuit and will be competing in the Garden State Esports Collegiate Cup finals on Feb. 22, currently scheduled at ACX1 Studios in Atlantic City.
