Brookdale Community College Foundation Announces Huber-Kreger Scholarship Recipients
The Brookdale Community College Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2024 Huber-Kreger Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship, generously created and endowed by Joann Kreger, supports students transitioning from Brookdale to further their education at four-year colleges and universities. The scholarship aims to alleviate the financial burden of tuition and provide additional support for personal expenses.
2024 Huber-Kreger Endowed Scholarship Recipients:
Denise Gozales-Cruz – Rutgers, School of Arts and Sciences
Leilanni Hubbard – Bayville, NJIT or Thomas Jefferson
Mina Saleh – Howell, Thomas Edison University
Kathryn Schaeffer – Point Pleasant, FIT State University of New York
Jason Wenzel – Middletown, Rutgers, School of Arts and Sciences
Each recipient received $1,100, with $1,000 allocated towards tuition and $100 provided for personal expenses. The scholarship is structured to ensure that the funds are directly applied to the students’ educational costs, supporting their journey towards academic and professional success.
Joann Kreger shared her inspiration for establishing the scholarship:
“Several years ago, I volunteered at the Monmouth Museum and met several students who interned there. The students were reliable, polite, and interactive. I also enjoyed participating in Brookdale trips, theatre, and Life Long Learning, which gave me a deep appreciation for the Brookdale campus, faculty, and students. It has been gratifying to learn of the school’s continued support for the students, including guidance, tutoring, and the food bank. I am impressed by the students’ plans and goals and am honored to play a small role in their achievement. I look forward to their continued successes.”
One of the scholarship recipients, Leilanni Hubbard, expressed her gratitude in a letter to the Huber-Kreger Scholarship Committee:
“This scholarship comes at a pivotal moment in my academic and professional journey. Upon graduating from Brookdale Community College, I plan to take the next significant step by enrolling in a four-year college to complete my five-year architecture program. This will bring me closer to my ultimate goal of becoming a licensed architect. Your support not only alleviates the financial burden of my education but also fuels my ambition and commitment to excel in this field. With this scholarship, I am empowered to pursue my passion for architecture with great dedication.”
Brookdale Community College congratulates all the recipients and extends its gratitude to Joann Kreger for her continued support and generosity. These scholarships not only ease the financial burden for students but also inspire them to pursue their dreams and contribute to their fields with dedication and passion.
