What brought you to Brookdale?
I came to Brookdale in 1997 to establish a radiologic technology program.

Describe one or more of your biggest achievements as a Brookdale faculty member:
One of my main achievements at Brookdale has been the establishment of a world-class radiologic technology program. Its reputation extends beyond the borders of New Jersey and the United States. Students from out of state and out of the country attend our program.

Do you work outside of the college?
I have been an accreditation site visitor for the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. I serve as a volunteer faculty member at the University of Rwanda College of Health Sciences in Kigali, Rwanda, and at the Martin Luther Health Training School in Accra, Ghana. I also manage a nonprofit that offers education to health professionals around the world.

What would you say is your most memorable moment – or moments – as a member of the Brookdale community?
I have experienced many memorable moments at Brookdale and cherish them the most when graduates return to say thank you for their educational experiences. It reinforces the great job we do.

What do you think separates Brookdale from other colleges?
Brookdale maybe a two-year college, but it exceeds the level of faculty-student interaction found at four-year institutions and rivals them in sports, co-curricular and student activities, and rewarding career programs. Our athletic teams are national champions; we host well-known authors, speakers and experts and offer faculty-led study abroad opportunities and life-changing career programs. Brookdale values diversity, engages students in intellectual conversation on global issues and believes in each student’s abilities to be the best they can be. Brookdale is the place to start your life.

Community Service
As a faculty leader of summer study abroad programs in Rwanda and Ghana, I have been able to provide students and community members with rich cultural experiences and hands-on service learning at health clinics, women’s centers, schools, and hospitals. I also helped established Brookdale’s Global Citizenship Project, which has created an avenue for faculty and students to engage in global experiences. I enjoy participating in the Global Citizenship Awards each April when students share their globally focused projects with their families, other students, and faculty. It is heartwarming to hear their passion for what they learned. Health care provides an array of opportunities for students to improve the health status of all persons.
