Nursing Track Options
A day track, an evening track, and an online track are offered each term as long as registration numbers justify running a specific track. Students select a track when they attend an Information Session. There is an expectation that students will remain in their selected track until graduation. Students may request to switch tracks once. Space restrictions and faculty evaluation of the student’s learning needs may result in a denial of track change requests.
For the Concept Curriculum, track applies only to NURS 171, NURS 172, NURS 271, NURS 273, and NURS 213. Professional Roles Courses (NURS 111, NURS 112, and NURS 211) and NURS 165 meet online only. NURS 125 meets only as a face-to-face class. All classes are Web-Enhanced using CANVAS, and all students must be able to:
- Use a web browser and word processor
- Send and receive email
- Locate a file and upload it to a drop box
- Copy and paste
- Use spell check
Online Track Information
The Online Nursing Track is a hybrid option that combines face-to-face and online learning activities. NURS 171, NURS 172, NURS 271, NURS 273, and NURS 213 use the college’s Learning Management System (CANVAS) for asynchronous online learning activities while still requiring face-to-face supervised laboratory and clinical learning experiences. Professional Roles Courses (NURS 111, NURS 112, and NURS 211) and NURS 165 meet online only. NURS 125 meets only as a face-to-face class. Online NURS courses may require in-person proctored testing on campus. All course and program learning outcomes are the same whether the learning occurs face-to-face or line. The College charges an additional Technology Fee ($25 in 2018) for courses offered online. Both the student bill and the registration statement note this Technology Fee as DELAB.
