Music Department

The Music program at Brookdale allows students to secure the first two years of a four-year program.  Completion of this program is the first step toward gaining a position as a teacher, supervisor, or director of choral, instrumental, and/or theater production programs within elementary, middle, or secondary schools, as well as in choral or instrumental organizations.  Numerous full-time teaching positions exist in public and private schools for music education majors.

The A.A Humanities with the Music option prepares you to transfer to pursue a bachelor’s degree in music.  Transfer students are generally required to take a music theory, keyboard proficiency, and pitch discrimination test at the four-year institution to which they transfer.
