Collins Arena Renovations and Recreation & Fitness Center
Brookdale’s Collins Arena is undergoing a complete renovation, and an expansion that will include new Recreation and Fitness Centers.
Extensive upgrades to Brookdale’s Athletic facilities are underway! While this will cause some access and parking issues in the short term, the project will provide the College and the Monmouth County community with first class facilities designed to meet the expectations of our students and clients who use the facilities for a wide variety of activities.
The Collins Arena renovation and expansion will take place in two phases, from March 2009 to May 2010. The entire project - renovating the existing Arena and building the attached Fitness & Event Center - will cost $22 million.
Phase I: Recreation/Fitness Center
This brand new 24,000 square-foot, multi-purpose facility which includes a 9,000 square foot Fitness Center will be constructed in the space between the current Arena and the Student Life Center. Construction is expected to be completed in the spring of 2010. The Arena will remain open during phase I.
Phase II: Renovation of the Collins Arena
As of July 1, 2010 the Collins Arena will be closed for renovation, with an anticipated completion date of January 1, 2011. Renovations include upgrades to the seating, flooring, restrooms, concessions, locker rooms, and the HVAC system as well as the installation of new elevators. When complete, the Arena will be fully ADA compliant and will provide all the amenities that customers would expect from a modern performance venue.
During construction:
While construction is underway there will be fencing around the entire construction area. Parking will be somewhat limited in Lot 6 & 7, which will also impact the users of The Warner Student Life Center. We strongly recommend that you consider the use of Lot 1 and follow the walkway that leads to The Warner Student Center and The Collins Arena.
