Advisement & Counseling
Our department offers advisement and counseling services to all full-time and part-time Brookdale students. These services include academic advisement and couse approvals, advisement for students transfering to or from Brookdale, career counseling, referals to testing, personal counseling and crisis intervention.
We are available on campus and online! Counseling and advisement personnel, called Student Development Specialists (SDS), are located on the 2nd floor of the CAR building on the Main Campus at Lincroft. SDS's are also avaiable at the Western Monmouth Branch Campus at Freehold, and Brookdale locations at Hazlet, Long Branch, Wall, and Neptune on select days. Distance/Online Advising and Counseling is now available from anywhere on a computer with an Internet connection and audio/video capabilities. Click here for instructions on Online Advising.

Advisement and Counseling hours of operation at the Lincroft Campus, CAR 2nd floor:
Monday - Thursday: 9am - 7pm
Friday: 9am - 5pm
Saturday: variable. Please call for availability.
Sunday: closed

All degree-seeking students who have achieved fewer than 12 credits, or who are not in satisfactory academic standing must meet with an SDS for course approval before registering. This includes students who are on Academic Probation or Reinstatement academic status. Students must also receive SDS approval to add or drop any basic skills course. An SDS referral is required to retest any portion of the Accuplacer (basic skills test) or to take most other placement tests. Therefore it is strongly advised to schedule an appointment early, well in advance of registration!

Important Dates
Summer and Fall 2013 Registration
Priority Registration Begins March 5.
All students currently enrolled in classes will be sent a priority registration pass. Check your Brookdale email accounts for your priority day and time. From this point onward you will be able to register for classes. If necessary, schedule an appointment for course approvals before your registration time!
Open Registration Begins March 21.
