Welcome to the Scroll & Pen Bookstore
The Scroll & Pen Store is the source for textbook purchases (and buy backs) and also offers a variety of school supplies, cards, gifts, art supplies, clothing, general books, reference books, educational materials, snacks and beverages. The management is always open to new ideas and appreciates customer suggestions.
The store is entirely self-sufficient and receives no funding from Brookdale. It is structured very much like a retail store, and pays employees` salary and benefits, overhead charges like rent, utilities, maintenance, and administrative costs, telephone bills, postage and freight costs. By College regulations, the Scroll & Pen must cover all its operating expenses as well as support the operating costs of the Auxiliary Services Division.

Scroll & Pen hours are always extended at the beginning of each term, to accommodate the rush for textbooks. For the Fall and Spring terms, the store is open until 9 PM the first week of term (excluding Friday), and for the Summer Terms the store is open until 8 PM the first week (excluding Friday). Accepted Forms of Payment Remember, receipts are needed for all returns & exchanges. Accepted forms of payment include:

Financial Aid (valid Student ID required)
Checks must be made out for the exact amount of purchase. Please make checks payble to "BCC Bookstore" and put your Brookdale ID number and phone number on the front of the check. Please don`t write the amount of the check until the cashier tells you the total, including any tax. You will be required to show your Brookdale ID or driver’s license when paying by check. No other form of identification is acceptable.
Financial Aid Students must present a Brookdale ID to use financial aid. Financial Aid Students needing assistance with paying for books must make arrangements through the Financial Aid Office. Scroll & Pen employees are not authorized to distribute financial aid. There is a five dollar minimum on Financial Aid purchases, so please plan ahead. Back to Top
No returns on English or Humanities books unless you bring your add-drop form along with your register receipt.
Returns must be made during the first two weeks of the Fall and Spring Terms, and during the first week of each Summer Term. (You must provide your registration form for all summer returns.)
Books purchased after these times are non-returnable.
Refunds on books for non-credit courses must be returned no later than two days from the start of class.
Other Merchandise
You must have your receipt.
Item may be returned within one week of purchase and must be in "as sold" condition.
Final sale and seasonal items are not returnable.
Computer disks, cds, and software are not returnable.
All returns will be credited to original form of payment.
Special Orders If you would like to special order a textbook, reference, study guide or any other material, please have as much of the following information as possible: Author, Title, ISBN # and the Publisher. Orders take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks. We require a small deposit at time of ordering. When the book or material arrives, we will call you to pick it up. Special book orders are not returnable. Computer Software We offer a great assortment of the best computer products, many at special educational discounts, to faculty, students, staff and college departments. We can get you all of the applications, development tools and utilities you need, to get the most out of your system. Our low everyday pricing and quick ordering makes the Scroll & Pen your best option for computer products.
Our margins on technology products varies according to the manufacturer. Software is generally priced to achieve a 10-25% gross margin, unless we have a special purchase which could change the margin. Since we are an educational store, we normally sell software at significantly lower prices (up to 75% less sometimes) than most traditional retail outlets to faculty, students and staff.

Apparel Get the spirit of Brookdale with an imprinted garment! We feature sweatshirts, T-shirts, sweatpants, jackets and baseball caps. Many have the Brookdale Seal, the Brookdale Logo, just "BCC" or the name Brookdale on them. An assortment of imprints as well as colors are available with sizes ranging from Small to XXXL on most items. Jansport backpacks and imprinted totes are available to help you carry all your books and supplies around campus.
Gift Certificates The Scroll & Pen offers gift certificates in any amount - just stop by to pick one up.

Gifts The College Store has great gifts for all occasions, from Jewelry, lotions, gift books, baby gifts, and numerous other items. We carry GUND stuffed animals, Hallmark Greeting Cards, holiday items, unique gifts and much more. Come in and browse around!

Class Rings and Pins The Scroll & Pen features Herff Jones rings and pins throughout the year. Herff Jones offers four convenient payment plans that will suit any budget.
C.O.D. (Cash on Delivery). Place a small deposit on your College Ring and have it delivered to your post office C.O.D. You pay the balance due at the post office when the ring arrives.
Purchase your ring with Mastercard, Visa, American Express or Discover Card.
Place a small deposit on your College Ring and charge $39.00 a month to your Mastercard, Visa or Discover Card until the balance is paid. Your ring will be delivered in just a few weeks and you can enjoy wearing your College Ring while you make the payments.
Or, place a small deposit on your College Ring and pay the balance in four equal monthly installments. The first three installments may be paid by check or money order. After the third installment, your ring will be entered into production and shipped to you C.O.D. The fourth installment will be due when you pick up your ring at the local post office. Herff Jones will send you a "letter of good credit" that may serve as a reference in establishing future credit.

Trade Books We offer a wide selection of books including medical, reference, children’s, study guides, dictionaries, fiction and best sellers -- just to name a few. We take suggestions from faculty, students, staff and publishers to stock this area. If you do not see what you are looking for, please do not hesitate to ask for it. The Paddock is a full service convenience store (hours here) with snacks, cold drinks, candy, ready to eat microwave sandwiches and soups – plus plenty of healthy foods, yogurt, power bars and more. We also have magazines, paperback books, and health and beauty aides.
The Paddock Cafe is also located inside the Paddock Convenience Store - offering a great selection of freshly brewed handmade coffee, latte, espresso, chai tea and specialty blended drinks. And for your sweet tooth - pastries such as scones, blueberry crumb cakes and cheesecake.
