Automotive Technology Deaprtment - Brookdale Community College Brookdale’s Automotive Technology programs are designed to prepare students for careers in the Automotive Service Industry. Theory, as well as, practical hands-on experience in our nationally certified lab, is combined to give students a thorough knowledge of today’s modern automobile.

Getting Started in Automotive Technology

  1. Attend the Brookdale Automotive Open House in November, with your school or separately with your parents. You can register by calling: 732-224-2791
  2. From late November through mid-April, you can call the Program Administrator for a personal conference and tour of the facilities: 732-224-2747
  3. Interested in attending Brookdale? Complete and follow the instructions on the Admission Application, located in the back of this guide. The CAR building houses Counselors, Admissions, and Registration
  4. Once you receive an acceptance letter, you are eligible to take the Basic Skills Placement Test called ACUPLACER. For questions regarding waivers, disabilities, deferments and scheduling of the ACUPLACER: 732-224-2660
  5. Test scores. It is your responsibility to contact your appropriate college counselor to review your test scores and select appropriate courses. Make an appointment by calling the Science Counselors: 732-224-2586

More About Our Department

Opening its door in 1969, the Automotive Technology Department has continuously grown to meet the increased demand for specifically trained technicians in the automotive industries. Along with the support of General Motors Inc., Toyota/Lexus, STS, and Volvo, BCC has developed and established 4 Associate Degree Programs and 7 Certificate Programs. Under the guidance of A.S.E. Certified Instructors, the Automotive Technology Department offers a thorough education with the use of state-of-the-art equipment. The National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) certifies the Automotive Technology Program A.A.S. Degrees for GM-ASEP and T-TEN.
